Art Department
The Art Department at Mountain View High School fosters creativity, self-expression, and the development of artistic skills. Our comprehensive curriculum includes: art exploration, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, video production, graphic design, and photography; providing students with multiple opportunities to explore and develop their artistic abilities.
Art at MVHS emphasizes both process and product. Students are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and develop their own artistic voices while building strong foundations in visual literacy, design principles, and art history.
Our entry-level classes, such as Art Exploration, are designed to be inclusive and supportive environments where students of all experience levels can thrive. Level 2 and AP courses build upon foundational skills, techniques, and concepts, offering advanced artists both challenges and support as they continue to grow their practice. Through personalized instruction and meaningful feedback, our educators guide students as they discover the power of art to communicate, creatively problem-solve, and express ideas, culture, and identity.
