Course Descriptions

Level 1 Classes Level 2 Classes

8612/6612- Theatre Production A & B

Theatre Production A serves as an introduction to all aspects of backstage and front-of-house for live theatre productions. Students will gain working knowledge of design concepts related to costumes, scenic, properties, lights, and sound. Students apply design principles to a core text as a formative assessment before applying design principles to a show of their choice as their summative assessment.

Theatre Production B serves as an opportunity to apply design aspects of backstage and front-of-house for live theatre productions. Students will gain hands-on experience related to costumes, scenic, properties, lights, and sound. Students will plan and execute designs for use in real productions.

6630/6631- Broadcast TV

Broadcast Television serves as an opportunity to expand theatre student’s understanding of what kinds of technical work can be done outside of traditional theatre. Students will gain a working knowledge of the technology and processes that make broadcast television possible, such as cameras, encoders, graphics, commentary, downstream keying, and shot directing. Students will apply that knowledge to the production of a sports broadcast to be live streamed on the internet.

 

 

 

Level 3 Classes Level 4 Classes

6205- Stage Production (Fall)

All students involved in the cast and crew of the Fall Play will be enrolled in this class. Auditions for the play are in August with rehearsals starting immediately after. All rehearsals and meetings will be after school.

 

6205- Musical Theatre (Spring)

Dive deeper into the world of Musical Theatre. Students will study acting basics, musical analysis, language in lyric form, elements of storytelling, character and best performance practices. Students will choose a song of their own to analyze and perform!

5030/5031- Business Work Experience

  • Learn new developments, technology, and procedures used in effective office management.
  • Apply decision-making and administrative skills related to their educational program and career objectives.
  • Work under the immediate supervision of experienced personnel at the business location and with the direct guidance of the instructor/coordinator.

5084- Pathfinder Apprenticeship

  • Learn to provide a practical introduction to the work environment through direct contact with professionals in the community. The content should include, but not be limited to, the following: discussion of professional job requirements, awareness and knowledge of career opportunities, building vocabulary appropriate to the area of professional interest, development of decision-making skills, and development of personal and educational job-related skills.
