What is DECA?

Distributive Education Clubs of America

DECA is a club for students interested in marketing, financing, and/or management. Students can participate in competitions within these categories against other students from all around. DECA is an international organization that contains about 250,000 students in grades 9-12. DECA helps prepare students for future jobs and careers.

In the history of Mountain View, six students have received a top performer reward in State, and four students have earned the performer reward in Nationals. Trophies and other awards can be seen in the trophy case on the wall outside of room E129.  It is not mandatory, but strongly suggested.  Students can join at the beginning of the school year.

The final deadline is the first week of October!  See Mr. Kaufold for more information!   DECA has a lot to offer. Students can choose from several different categories in Marketing, Finance, or Management in which to compete with other DECA students in Colorado and nationwide. Students will develop better skills in these areas, which will help prepare them for future jobs and careers. Many companies sponsor events that are related to their businesses which could help students land jobs in local areas. In the competitions that students participate in, there is a possibility of winning cash prizes and possibly even a scholarship.

DECA prepares emerging leaders to develop social and business etiquette, develop an understanding of civic responsibility, develop ethical behavior in personal and business relationships, and develop an understanding of the role of the free enterprise system in a
global economy.
